VCD, or video compact disc, is a standard digital format for storing video (moving pictures and sound) on a CD (CD-R or CD-RW). VCDs are playable in dedicated VCD players, in many modern DVD-video players, on personal computers with DVD-ROMs and CD-ROMs and in some video game consoles. A VCD holds up to 80 minutes of motion video and stereo sound on a 700-MB CD. On a VCD you can have chapters, video, digital images, album slideshows, audio or a combination of media files. Again, a VCD can be played in most DVD players and on a computer.
